House Renovation & Rear Extension - Widcombe, Bath
This stunning property needed some clever tweaking to realize its full potential. Decades of internal refits and haphazard extensions resulted in a disjointed, labyrinthine layout with limited natural light.
The client’s main requirement was to inject as much natural light as possible, into not only the living spaces, but the transitory areas too. This was a challenge but with the clever addition of a dramatic lightwell, adding new openings and enlarging existing ones, we were able to flood the house with light.
In addition to this extensive work on the existing structure, we also added a ground-floor rear extension. This beautiful space nestles itself in the lush foliage of the rear garden, creating a cozy snug and double-height library area. Not only does this cater to the client's love for reading, but it also serves as a striking architectural focal point.
Our complete internal redesign successfully addressed the present disconnect and created a homogenous and inviting environment. The once disparate rooms now flow effortlessly, evoking a true sense of home.
