This extension and full house renovation was an interesting project with many technical difficulties being partially built in-to the ground on the sloping site.

We excavated over 150 tons of soil and removed from site through a tight lane to make way for the large rear extension and associated landscaping. A large Stepoc RC retaining wall was required to support the neighbour’s ground with an interconnecting RC raft foundation.

The fully glazed rear elevation brings the stepped landscaping and the garden into the room as a feature. The roof lights bring much needed light into this north facing elevation and the (wet) piped underfloor heating across the whole ground floor will keep this space warm. The extension also benefits from an external wall insulation system and a heavily insulated roof to ensure thermal efficiently for years to come.

Working alongside a local architect the construction stage was completed in just over 8 months.
