Jarman, Bentworth, Hampshire, Kitchen & Interiors Project
The Charleston Shaker Kitchen.
This Recently modernised house uses the kitchen as part of the front room of the original house with fireplace and recesses each side. We built bespoke furniture to sit each side of the fireplace with oak worktops and oak shelves. This tied in neatly with the bespoke kitchen furniture and design.
The kitchen furniture is made using tulip wood which is ideal for painting. The frame and doors are 30mm thick to give a substantial feel and trimmed around the edges with cock beading to soften the look of the doors. Each drawer box is finished in solid oak with dovetailed joints and hidden soft-close runners to give modern comforts. The inside of each cabinet is finished in birch veneer with a natural lacquer. The doors have discreetly hidden magnets in the frame and doors which create a soft close with the use of traditional butt hinges. Framing the Flacon range cooker are on the left assiette of solid oak trays neatly tucked away in there own cabinet and on the right the same cabinet but with two usefull oak chopping blocks. At eye level we didn't have a lot of of space so we made a concave wall unit to house the everyday consumables for cooking.
