Oak Flat Door Kitchen Clad in Wenge.
For this Modern kitchen, we used a flat oak effect door that was easy to wipe clean and wrapped it with a dark wood called Wenge (Weng-gay) this is a tropical timber, very dark in colour with a distinctive figure and a strong partridge wood pattern. This Contrasts well with lighter woods such as oak or maple. Most, if not all of the base cabinets were drawers, which allowed a better, and deeper storage solution for the client, plus each section was closed off with Wenge pilasters and corner posts. Creating the drawer facia look at top level was easy by way of using the Blum bi-fold hinge system, which also had a built in soft-close mechanism.
The worktops for this modern kitchen were equally exotic; with the materials selected Marron Coheiba Granite Worktops the colours are simply stunning. Deep aubergine (egg plant) in colour mixed with different browns and the odd patch of gold (real gold if you fancied extracting it) thrown in for good measure. This was overlaid on the peninsular with a section of Wenge with rebated marble effect engineered stone place mats. Mixed with the honed and filled travertine and jute flooring the combination was fantastic. Everything was created to compliment the Art Deco theme throughout the lower level of the house.
