Wimborne White Kitchen with Character Oak Panels.

The Wimborne White kitchen for this project was mix of painted furniture and natural character oak. Character oak is used when you want all the knots and interesting features you get with natural wood. Optionally the customer could have had plan oak, without the knots. The doors used a very plain design with no beading as well as the unit frames, which were an in-frame design, again with no beading. All the doors, drawer fronts and frames where 30mm in thickness for a chunky, solid feel.
This kitchen was designed with a very tradition look in mind, as such the customer wanted all the hinges and such to be traditional in look. This didn't mean that they missed out in modern features such as soft close drawers and doors as they where all built in hidden away. All of the drawer boxes came finished in a lightly lacquered oak finish with the cabinet internals in a lightly lacquered birch ply.

This particular kitchen, because of its open planned design, had a very long open run of peninsula units. All of these where clad along the rear in character oak in a tongue and groove style. One of the main features of this kitchen is the large canopy hood. This was bespoke made to perfectly fit the room, range cooker and the kitchen itself. As such its finished in the same Wimborne White colour with a natural character oak band around the front edge.

The appliances were covered by Bosch with a larder style fridge built in (KIR38A55GB) and an extractor hood for the canopy (DHL54SGB). The sink and tap where from Franke, which consisted of a Eiger tap in SilkSteel and the VBK 720 twin bowl ceramic sink. To top all of this off the worktops where done in granite (Labrador Black) in a 30mm thickness with pencil round edges.
