“Leanne offered a free measure and quote for the windows which required curtains and blinds in my first new house. She was very knowledgeable of the industry and gave her advice to what she thought would look best in our home. She offered a wide range of fabric choices and talked through what would block out the most sun for light sleepers! Very useful and helpful and I would highly recommend. Rebecca took the time to integrate all of our requirements, inserted her much needed creativity and the result was beyond our expectations. Maggie has vision and Keith worries about little details. I have had full curtains, pelmets, blinds, throws and table cloths made by Vine house and every time I have been delighted. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
