At the outset, they helped make all those tricky decisions I had no experience of, and looking back, we made all the right choices. All work was carried out within the 12 week schedule that was initially agreed and to the highest standards. As with any building work, there were small unforeseen issues that arose. But Pete Cook and his guys always had a solution ready and never tried to increase the cost because of them. The plans we had were always flexible, meaning that when our ideas evolved, they were always happy to incorporate them. They made useful suggestions on how to make improvements that we wouldn’t have thought of, such as adding soundproofing between the floors when the opportunity arose. “My review outlines my purpose for the works, and a detail of the works carried out. I found this company to be friendly, honest and professional, being able to give me detailed answers to questions that for me, were quite technical. The price and standard of work was very favourable. I would certainly recommend them. We had a mains water leak, and found out that following a previous water leak work done by a company to tank out the basement, they had not properly waterproofed the space so the work needed to be redone. The second company I found was unreliable in attending and communication; leaving the job partially done. I was grateful though, as it transpired that they were not in fact completing the work correctly/to standard, so this is how I came across TP Developments. TP Developments consulted and advised on the best way to tackle the problem to ensure it would not happen again. They allowed me to watch as they worked and ask as many questions as I liked. The area was stripped out, the floor tanked and rendered over that with a specialist waterproof render. A tar membrane was applied over that 3 times to ensure no water penetration from beneath or above, then they applied a self leveling compound to level the floor. They talked me through what they would do and why so I understood the purpose and benefits. This gave me trust in them with additional work to the space which included the tanking of the external walls which included a chimney breast and fireplace. They hacked off the blown plaster, tanked with two coats of a bitumen based solution before applying a waterproof render. They then plastered all the walls including up the stairwell and painted the walls. They also put in new lighting and plastered and painted the ceiling. The construction of 2 cupboards to house the electric meter, consumer unit, gas meter and water mains stopcock pipe, which they then painted to blend with the walls. They ran additional pipes and installed a radiator, that had been sitting from a previous job. They also repaired the stairs and installed a handrail for safety, and ridged the cupboard space under the stairs, installed lighting inside it and added a door. I now have a great useable and warm space in my basement which I am confident is waterproof, especially as it is surviving the cold, damp water season very well. All dry and warm down there.”
