Rug for bedroom

Hi,

I have a 10x10 bedroom with wood floors and white trim. We purchased a darker wood bed frame and found some navy and white pinstripe bedding I like. I would like to add pops of color and keep the room eclectic looking. What type of rug would you suggest? I am attaching a pic of the bedding and a rug I like, but don't know if it will look good together. Help!

beautiful rug! I would suggest finding some pillows with the same color as the rug and place those on the bed to tie the two together.

Thanks Amanda! Do you think I could bring in any other colors? I really like a gold/mustard color but maybe it's too much? What about artwork? That room is a blank slate! My husband is going to paint it white (well, almost white). I wanted a clean, blank look so I could fill it will color.

Hello again all and sorry for the delay! i have now got a throw and started to extend my gallery over the corner. I grabbed an old chair and rug that were kicking about in my parents' garage and put them in the corner to give me some idea of what i want. actually, i kinda like the beat-up chair but i don't think the rug looks right. is it too small? Now i have the reddish throw (LOVE it... from the Avoca shop in Belfast - amazing place, if you are ever in Belfast do go!!) I am actually considering replacing my blind because i prefer red tones to the turquoise. Just not sure what I would get instead? Still need a fab lamp and more cushions but wisdom says wait for the January sales! I still think I need something more eyecatching on my vanity too... Considering a map above my bed but I don't know if it would compete with the gallery wall too much? have to say i do love the "hello" sign!

We already have two big windows in the room so now just looking for some artwork to complement the mural. My husband found some great tealight holders that really work with the theme - two pine cones and the faux antler. I've also added brown and amber pebbles to my glass candle bowls which catch the light in a pretty way, and I've got a great new little light feature in the corner - long twigs with fairy lights that look great at bedtime!

HI MARINA, I love your bedroom- great high ceilings. Your furniture is also nice. I would follow the lead from the furniture keeping all furniture white. I love tropical coastal style. I would put up a white ceiling fan and ikea sell some white nets that let in loads of light and give privacy. I would decorate the walls in an off white with a hint of pink in it for warmth and to bring out the tones in your beautiful floor. I would collect local art for the walls. I would go to town on the bedding and cushions for the bed. I would mix your favourite colours- turquoise, teal, with green and coral. Making the room have a tropical coastal beach hotel vibe. I would feel like I was on holiday every day and never want to leave. Once you've surrounded yourself with personal things like photo frames of loved ones, plants/ flowers etc, you will feel right at home and settled. I've loved decorating for years, and tried lots of colours on walls but recently I've returned to off whites as they are so flexible and you can change the look with coloured accessories regular. Do you prefer carpet or wood flooring (with a rug) in a bedroom?

The poll was neck and neck but it seems like I just tipped it in favour of wood! I prefer wooden flooring, as that is what I am used to. I do like a carpeted landing space however and agree that a carpeted room has a greater element of cosiness to it, especially in colder months. But the big downside for me is that they are more susceptible to stains from spillages etc.

find some art work with those colors & some other colors as well & pull from that. You could do yellow, lighter blues, brighter orange. Art.com has great pieces for art, as well as Ballards & Horchow.

Think layers-- if that's the rug, then add that color in a multi- colored drape-- or other things too, such as the pillows someone suggested.

One of the best things that goes with stripes is spots so a nice spotted rug would go great with this quilt cover set you have.you say you do not have much room.You can either go for a small rug or what may be best is a runner or 2 if you have the room either side of you bed.
It will make your room feel longer than it is.Plus add some cushions to give more depth to the look you have.

Those pillows chemayne recommended look great. If you want yellow, get something like the pillows chemayne recommended first and then add one with yellow/gold tones.
