Chichester, Para 80, West Sussex
This 24 acre site lies in the open countryside just outside the South Downs National Park.
The architecture has developed from key characteristics of flint which is a locally quarried material. Our NPPF Paragraph 80 (Para 80) proposals explore these contrasting textures and enable the building to assimilate into the woodland backdrop when viewed from the public realm. Upon arrival at the house the dark external simplicity sets up a dramatic surprise when entering the white curving courtyard & interior, with flowing curves that guide you round the house, blurring inside & out within a walled courtyard garden.
A detailed analysis of views from within the South Downs National Park revealed a part of the site which was shielded by various foreground screening. This screened portion of the site has then directly informed the footprint area of the proposals such that there is no adverse impact on the setting of the National Park.
