Shew Valley NPPF Para 134

The proposed design is for an exceptional new 10,000 square foot dwelling on a sloping site with distant views across the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Generations of Dairy farming has created distinctive landscape characteristics and patterns of striations and terraces where cattle graze on sloping ground. The building diagram is organised by an architectural interpretation of this defining landscape feature in a series of terraces and striation walls which rise and fall to form external and internal spaces.

The contemporary first floor elements seek to enjoy the long distance views out and beyond the site, their form and materials relating to the nearby agricultural barns that house the cattle that graze around the site.
