An Edwardian semi-detached house in Henleaze has been extended to create a large open plan kitchen / dining / living area facing the sunny rear garden. The existing reception rooms have been opened up with a copper-clad kitchen island providing a striking feature. Given the conservation area setting, the original rear bay window had to be retained; the new extension’s staggered floor plan allows for a widened living room with generous windows to the garden. Brise-soleils on the South facade provide glare control and help articulate the elevation.
