House for a couple and a dog
Originally featuring a rear reception and a separate galley kitchen, this ground floor maisonette in Redland did not make the most of its enclosed private space. The project creates a new dining room in the garden to add space and connect the living areas with the outdoors via generous sliding doors and a new gravel patio. The extension's height was constrained by the existing boundary wall; the roof rafters are left exposed to increase the internal height and create a feature. Externally the extension is a simple, clean volume clad in natural stone to reflect the prevalent character of the neighbourhood.
