55MR Extensions, remodelling and refurbishment of 1930s property

OPS were appointed to deliver the extensive refurbishment of this property, whilst adding a single storey rear extension and double storey extension. DVH Architects initially undertook the design element of the project with OPS project managing the works and provide design input during construction.
Two key elements to the project were to maximise the views to the rear and also greatly improve the efficiency of the building. To that end, glazing was maximised to the rear of the building, especially to the ground floor where sliding doors measuring almost 5m wide have been installed, coupled with a fixed pane window. Insulation has been laid within the roof, beneath the floor, old external walls and solid filled within extra deep walls to the cavity to the new extensions. The boiler and light fittings have been equally considered for energy efficiency.
