Highgate Courtyard
A small intimate walled courtyard tucked behind a lovely Georgian House.
The use of repeated organic circles and a change of levels provide interest and make this space feel larger. Despite its small size the raised bench in the far corner provides two rooms within the garden and a place to journey too. The planting beds around the garden boundaries are deep enough to create a good display and the plants are carefully selected to thrive in the semi-shade of the graceful mature Acer tree. Keeping the garden walls relatively uncovered by planting optimises the light in the garden which otherwise would be too shady and allows the neighbours surrounding shrubs to be 'borrowed' by the planting scheme.
