The beautiful surrounding walls of this garden provide the perfect backdrop to a semi-formal garden design which is both 'relaxed and grown up' as clients requested in their brief. Utilising the 'Arts and Crafts' priciples of design, the garden has the formality of crisp paving, paths and a pool and rill close to the house; whilst it becomes more relaxed with a small fruit tree orchard underplanted with wildflower meadow and naturalised bulbs further away.
The design has strong lines which are softened by naturalistic perennial planting in juxtaposition with clipped box shapes and utilises these as well as carefully placed focal points to draw the eye and the foot out into the garden.
