“This was my first ever time commissioning curtains in my first ever house, and I can absolutely say that Sonia Whiteman made the experience a pleasure. I knew nothing about fabrics, linings interlinings, pleats, returns... Sonia talked me through all the options. She measured not once, not twice, but three times, and held my hand through everything, including putting up poles, return hooks and hold-backs. I really can't recommend her highly enough, she is an extremely skilled and careful seamstress, and a lovely person to deal with.”

“A friend who had used Bindu’s services recommended her for our sitting room project. I needed help with choosing curtain fabric to fit our existing sofas and she listened to my requirements and saw curtains and blinds I already had in the house to gauge my style. I love colour and Bindu was great with suggesting colour schemes and fabric. Once I had decided on the fabric which she ordered, she organised new poles which I painted myself, and she also organised the fitting of the poles and took great detail in the final fitting of the curtains which were then steamed in place. I can’t recommend Bindu enough for her ideas, professionalism and general friendliness.”

“I was suggested this company by my interior designer, whom speaks very highly of them - i was naturally in uncharted territory when it came to ordering so many different curtains and blinds for each room of my house, as i didn't really have any idea about fabrics and fitting systems etc. Thankfully Marcia and Sophie were on hand to help me, the after sales has been brilliant and most importantly my house looks fantastic! “Vicky quoted on several occasions for different rooms within our house. The blinds that she made were of excellent quality and she ensured that they were a perfect fit. Prior to that she was most helpful with providing swatches and ideas for the different rooms. Nothing was too much trouble. She was also able to offer a range of extras to co-ordinate with our new blinds ie lampshades, and cushions. I wouldn't hesitate recommending her and using her again in the future.”

“Viv from the Children's Curtain Company provided a first-class service from start to finish. Before we approached her we had trawled through lots of websites and requested several samples by post and they were all wrong for our newly decorated master bedroom. Just by sending Viv a photo of our room she was able to advise and send through appropriate samples. We made our decision and Viv ordered the fabric and made our beautiful embroidered blind for our room really quickly. She also made a matching ceiling lamp shade and these have completed our room perfectly. I can't recommend childrenscurtaincompany.co.uk enough!”

Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
