Quarry Garden, Lancashire by Barnes Walker Landscape Architects, Manchester
Creation of an exceptional dwelling within a former quarry. Proposals include woodland management and restoration, conservation of wetland habitats and hillside restoration. The sites designation as a Biological Heritage Site meant that the process needed a sensitive approach in order for the site to become a haven for a range of mammals, birds and insects and a rich and diverse ecosystem. Our approach has also minimised the environmental impact of importing of soils by blending new soils with waste materials onsite.
