Santa Barbara Downtown, 1920's Queen Anne Remodel, Garden Street Residence
Featured in "This Old House" and two Houzz articles
The Owners bought this small, 100-year old, Queen Anne style house when they were first married. (The 2-bedroom house had only 1100 square feet on a lot of 3700 square feet.) When they had children, they decided to stay in their downtown Santa Barbara location instead of moving to the suburbs. To do so, they wanted to add two bedrooms and a one-car garage. The house is over 50 years old and on a list of potentially significant buildings, so an Architectural Historian's report was required. The architectural historians had to approve all changes to the exterior. The new bedrooms and a bathroom were fitted into the existing attic of the house. The owners have created a family home that will last for many years.
