Mission Canyon, Santa Barbara. The desire for a meld of Arts and Crafts sensibilities with very high fire resistance resulted in this design for a new 3,880 square foot, three-story residence. Our clients had lost their previous home to the Jesusita Fire and wanted to replace it within the parameters of what the County considered a “rebuild” in order to fast track returning to their home. Net-Zero energy use was achieved via a combination of photovoltaic panels and high- efficiency lighting with a tight thermal envelope.
