The Fishers Bespoke Kitchen Design

A long-term fan of Wood & Wire, with a growing collection of our furniture, our client opted for an airy, minimal scheme for this bespoke kitchen design. Although they love our open shelving and colourful design schemes, right from the get-go they felt a closed-cupboard scheme would suit their personality and living style much better. For those who like clean lines and uncluttered views – not to mention minimal housework – a full closed-cupboard scheme is the best way to go. The kitchen is an L-shaped design running from the exterior window to the room’s internal entrance from the hallway, and it consists of a double layer of sliding-door wall cupboards reaching to the ceiling. This helped us maximise wall storage. At base level, despite their extra cost, three drawer units were chosen over cupboards to provide easier access to their contents. With our lifetime guaranteed drawer runners, the client could relax knowing that even their heavier kitchen items like cast iron pans and croc pots could be stored safely for years to come. At the end of the internal wall’s run of units stands a full-height tower housing a microwave, oven, overhead two-door cupboard and a pan drawer at floor level. Other appliances include a stainless steel free-standing extractor fan, an induction hob, and an under-mounted stainless-steel sink with matching tap.

Our client opted for neutral colours for the units and worksurface, choosing white and oak veneer combined with white Corian; a great way to future-proof a bepoke kitchen design. Neutral cabinets and work-surfaces accommodate changes to the other elements in the kitchen, like tiles, walls and floors, allowing the colour scheme to be updated and refreshed easily over time. Here, our client teamed their cabinets with gorgeous striped brick tiles in neutral sandy and earthy green tones, along with a wooden floor and white ceiling. Next, she complemented her scheme with a houseplant-laden Lumb sideboard in white, a green laminated plywood dining table and white Eames chairs.
