The Hayfields | Herb Planter Plywood Kitchen | Huddersfield
This indoor herb planter kitchen was crafted for clients seeking a calm, efficient space that balances clean modern lines with a natural, living element. Set in Huddersfield, the project is a lesson in subtle contrasts, thoughtful details, and clever functionality.
At its core is a bespoke white Corian worktop featuring an integrated sink, drainer grooves, and a recessed herb planter. This built-in feature not only adds practicality but also brings a touch of greenery and seasonality right into the cooking space, softening the sharp geometry of the cabinetry and connecting the kitchen to nature.
The lower kitchen units stand out with black and orange laminate, adding a playful flash of colour and personality. Above, white laminate doors framed in exposed birch ply create a gentle contrast, with shadow-gap handles that maintain a minimalist, uninterrupted flow. At the end of the cabinetry run, a multifunctional bookshelf island faces the dining area, providing easy access to cookbooks and glassware without breaking the kitchen’s clean visual rhythm.
A vertical slatted plywood screen subtly divides the kitchen from the surrounding areas while echoing the warm tones of the flooring and ply detailing. Integrated Siemens appliances and a Quooker tap complete the look, ensuring everything stays sleek, functional, and uncluttered.
This kitchen is designed for those who appreciate simplicity, functionality, and quiet sophistication. It’s modern without being cold, warm without leaning into rustic, a space for cooking, reading, conversation, and tending to the herbs that bring it all to life.
