A Traditional Country Kitchen

A traditional country kitchen in a stunning Cotswold barn. Looking at a glance like a kitchen from almost any era but with a touch of the super modern, this spacious bespoke kitchen uses subtle mouldings and embellishments to achieve that classic country feel, perfectly at home in this ancient barn setting.

The Design Brief
Arran and Anna wanted their kitchen to look like it was meant to be in this room and they wanted to maximise the feeling of space, height and light; this meant keeping the walls clear and the palette neutral whilst maximising the impact of the cabinets through chunky frame and worktops and delicate mouldings and chamfers.

The Build
Fitting Oak up-stands to 300 year old stone walls is always a challenge. The solution is to build them as a 4 sided Oak box that can be scribed back to the stone on the sides and the top whilst fitting perfectly to the worktop at the bottom. The added result to this is the perfect surface to mount your sockets, keeping the beautiful stone walls clear of cables and electrical fittings all of which are hidden within the box.

Materials
All the carcasses are built from our FSC Birch plywood and the frames and doors from PEFC Oak, The worktops are built from wide boards of Oak 40mm thick to provide that chunky country kitchen feel. The whole kitchen is hand painted in Farrow & Ball Tallow.
