Quirky Retro Style Shaker Kitchen

The cabinetry might be Shaker but there is nothing traditional about this quirky retro style shaker kitchen! Style aside, storage was the biggest consideration. This compact space had to be as functional as possible for this growing family in London without losing its playfulness. Every effort was made to ensure that the maximum amount of storage was available while keeping it fun. We were able to squeeze in a half larder with a bespoke wine rack and room for a microwave. Below the larder the washing machine and tumble dryer are tucked away for easy access. Another hidden aspect is the extractor fan which is installed behind the cabinetry above the hob providing a clean aesthetic. The space was small but we were able to utilise the high ceilings to create extra tall cabinetry.

The couple came to us with a colour palette and strong style aesthetic with help from their interior designer giving us a great framework to start with. We went for a neutral palette for the cabinetry so that the colourful accents would shine. The orange and blue green accents add a bold look while the Smeg fridge and floor tiles add a quirky retro feel. The breakfast bar is separated from the rest of the kitchen by its oak worktop. It provides extra seating linking the kitchen to the living and dining area. This gorgeous kitchen is as much about what you see as what you don’t.
