Contemporary Garden in Fulham, London
Designed and Built by the Garden Builders.
Garden Builders were commissioned to design and build a space centred around a newly built swimming pool and extended property in Fulham, resulting in a design and build that needed to be exacting and compliment the internal space and finish.
The client was heavily involved in terms of agreeing materials, quality assurance and basic design.
IPE hardwood decking was decided as the main deck surface, as this is a robust and stable wood ideal around a swimming pool, unusually this was also used a pool coping edge, we organised the copings to be manufactured off site and the fitted along with the main decking.
A narrower unit of IPE was then used to form the in-situ slatted screen construction to give the overlooked garden privacy, whilst still allowing light into the garden.
To reduce the impact of all the hardwood, we installed an artificial lawn area to mirror the swimming pool and planted pockets of evergreen bamboo in strategic places.
Lighting was used to enhance the surface texture and planting at night whilst also illuminating changes in level and seating/dining spaces. Irrigation was integrated to promote healthy plant growth and maximise screening potential. - See more at: http://www.gardenbuilders.co.uk/section/455/1/lane-swimming-pool#sthash.z5CvYnDj.dpuf
