Period Property Wandsworth
Designed by Sarah Hammond Garden Design and built by the Garden Builders.
FRONT GARDEN
Both the soft landscaping and hard landscaping elements for this front garden were designed with symmetry in mind in order to best enhance this lovely double fronted 'period' property. The garden is a relatively low maintenance, fuss free scheme relying instead on classical proportions and quality of finish. The existing tiling and railings were retained and restored in order to retain the integrity of the property.
REAR GARDEN
We completely removed all the contents of the rear garden in order to start from scratch. We excavated and levelled the space incorporating new foundations and sub-bases. The perimeters of the project includes for vertical softwood panels finished with a paint finish, giving the planting an effective backdrop. A combination of raised beds were created from Baltic pine sleepers. Ground level planting beds were filled with a lovely mixed palette of evergreen and perennial planting to give year round interest.
An artificial lawn was fitted to give a low maintenance and child/pet friendly surface. The natural living plants that surround this lawn lend a natural effect.
The stone terrace pathways were finished in a lovely, creamy coloured sawn sandstone set to a random course pattern and finished with neat inset gravel detailing.
In order to gain higher height screening pleached eleagnus were grafted onto a living rootstock to form an evergreen screen above fence height.
The finishing touch was a complete lighting scheme utilising state of the art Hunza exterior garden lighting to highlight and complement the garden into the evening. - See more at: http://www.gardenbuilders.co.uk/section/478/1/period-property-wandsworth#sthash.I89oZ5UN.dpuf
