Large Residential Garden in Moor Park

The aim of this exciting, large scale project was to level out a very steep banked garden and to create a contemporary, family friendly garden with a hint of 'romance'. The planting scheme was designed to offer the clients year round greenery and interest with plentiful attractive flowering plants and shrubs. Four distinct main garden areas were created; the rear lawn terrace, the rear lawn, the circular garden with walk through pergola and the main front driveway. The initial works included excavating some 700 tonnes of soil and clay from the rear garden area. This labour intensive programme was hampered by some very inclement weather.
The finished garden includes a beautifully manicured wide lawn, some 778m2, spanning the width of the rear of the property. Due to the limited depth of the lawn a focal point here was created by positioning a bespoke seated arbour positioned within the border approached by neat box balls planted within the lawn. A summerhouse complete with circular patio in the distance adds to the element of romance, sitting perfectly within a backdrop of tall, majestic trees. A 'sunken trampoline' is installed at the rear of the lawn creating a fun and cleverly designed play space for children. An elegant terrace formed from 260m2 of sawn yorkstone stretches across the rear of the property offering seating and entertaining space. A feature step created from sawn yorkstone offers access to the main lawn and feature box balls. Some 55 linear metres of retaining wall encircle the rear terrace, creating the clever tiered effect. The circle terrace is located at the side of the house complete with bespoke cedar pergola and contemporary knot garden. Hunza exterior light fittings are installed in the garden areas offering ambient and attractive lighting effects. An irrigation system is also in place.
At the front a wide bonded resin driveway complete with neat granite sett edging provides a grand, sweeping entrance to the property. A manicured lawn was created around three existing mature trees, edged with a pretty row of ligustrum jonandrum standards and low level planting.
Client liaison was paramount at all times as the owners were living in the new build property as the garden works were taking place.
