The clients wished to have their 'hip to gable' roof converted into a bedroom and bathroom.
The loft height was only 2 metres and thus insufficient so I proposed a traditional Mansard.
There are many types of Mansard roofs, nowadays they often have a flat top but I and my client agreed this would not suit their Victorian house.
In terms of form I have designed a traditional Mansard, it's based on historical precedence but structurally adapted to gain maximum interior space.
