Accessible Design
We’re delighted to share our latest project — a thoughtfully designed rear extension for an ex-council home, recently granted full planning and building regulation approval. The homeowner, a wheelchair user, approached us with a clear vision: to create a bright, open-plan space that allows for ease of movement and everyday accessibility. Our design reconfigures the existing layout, extending the rear of the property to form a spacious, connected kitchen, dining, and living area. Wide openings, level access, and step-free thresholds have been carefully integrated to ensure smooth wheelchair circulation throughout. Working closely with the client, occupational therapists, and the local authority, we ensured that every detail met accessibility and building regulation standards while maintaining a warm, contemporary aesthetic. With approvals now in place, the project is ready to move into the construction phase — transforming the home into a more inclusive, comfortable, and future-ready space.
