3 Bed Flat Renovation in Islington - Roland

This flat was dark with dated interiors which did not reflect the new owners taste. He came to us for design and execution of a full redecoration including joinery, electrics and a new ensuite bathroom. We added much lighter colours to open the space up and added character with traditional moldings which would have originally appeared in the period property.

The kitchen was in good condition therefore we simply painted a lighter green colour, added a tiles cplashback behind the sink and under shelf light strips.

The fireplace was swept and tested as recommended. We designed and installed the joinery either side and painted the walls either side of the chimney breast with a darker colour.

Main ensuite with green slate tiles and metro tiles inside the shower enclosure. We couldn't reduce the height of the tray due to plumbing in the floor underneath however we detailed with the floor tiles to match.

The guest bedroom was dark and had no character. We replaced the colours with much lighter neutral colours, added a lovely geometric wallpaper and a contrasting patterned blind.

The old rads did not give off enough heat and the client didn't like the dated style. We suggested these lovely Bisque column rads and the client chose gun metal finish to make them stand out. They look fabulous and give off the correct amount of heat for the space.

We repainted all dark joinery white to make the place seem lighter and added mouldings in the downstairs areas to give the period flat some of what would have been its original features back.

The bathroom worked well but was quite dark. We removed long curtains which hung behind the bath and replaced with a simple light blind. Wall lights were added, the walls painted lighter and a simple mirror cut to size added behind the sink.

The hallway had dark painted floor and dark open shelving. We had the floor sanded and stained giving a lighter natural look and added doors with push catches to the existing joinery to keep the area tidy and useful.
