Renovation of a 2 bedroom Flat in a Grade II Listed building
Flat renovation in a Grade II listed building, including new bespoke storage solutions and updated fittings and finishings throughout.
We renovated a second flat of this beautiful Grade ll listed converted hospital building in Hackney. The works created useful new storage space, better insulation, and colourful new finishes.
As the flat adjoins unheated communal spaces- better insulation and ventilation were key to success. We installed high-performance floor insulation and sustainable wood-fibre wall and ceiling insulation.
A new storage platform was designed to make use of otherwise redundant space above the hallway. Most of the structural supports have been hidden within the walls – and the one visible beam now makes a great feature, accentuated in a bright blue. The hallway space beneath has been finished in birch ply with lovely edge detailing, and the area perfectly completed with cheerful yellow rubber flooring. Integrated lighting and a large mirror make the space feel open and welcoming.
The bold colours and new materials were carefully chosen to complement the features of the building.
