Plumpton

Bavian Design was commissioned by the new owner to reimagine this family home and solve some awkward space issues within the house, as well as bring interest to the original facade which lacked vibrancy.

With a broad brief and after co-design workshops with the client, our planning application was submitted and approved by the local conservation team.

The vertical cladding is designed to create a sense of movement and interest in the facade, which suffered from 'developer bland'. The front extension answers three distinct problems; the cramped hallway/staircase is resolved, the office expansion creates greater recreational space and the guest bedroom can now accommodate an ensuite facility. The additional benefit to the property is a stronger visual connection from the front of the house to the rear garden, which has also been redesigned to introduce character into a blank canvas lawn space.

The project has now commenced and build is well underway. The garden studio and garage conversion are nearing completion and we have been further commissioned to redesign the family bathroom and master ensuite facilities, the kitchen, utility, pantry and dining room.
