Commissioned by a Brighton based musician, we secured planning permission for this dual function studio space in his rear garden. With an appetite for very loud rock music, and need of workshop space for other creative endeavours, we were briefed with coming up with designs that turned a dilapidated garage space into a practical music recording studio and creative workshop, with ensuite facilities included.

After some negotiations with the planning department we were able to secure our client a much larger unit than his permitted development rights would have allowed, enabling the dual function to be accommodated.

The construction methodology had to consider acoustics and noise pollution to the local neighbourhood, so a dense concrete system was developed. Interior acoustic mitigation designs have been undertaken and some bespoke acoustic panels are now ready for fabrication.
