We were invited to consult following a recommendation. Our clients had previously struggled to secure planning for a loft conversion. After a detailed briefing program we proposed an alternative vision for their home - rather than continuing to use a spare room in the house as a works space and convert the loft for guest facilities, we suggested re-landscaping an under utilised front garden, with the introduction of a dedicated home office. This came with three benefits to the clients that they hadn't considered. Firstly was the disassociation of their work from their home, the second being that client visits were held in a professional space that didn't require invasion of the private residency, and the third was that an unused substantial garden was transformed into two zones - one workspace with a Japanese-style garden, and one higher level lawned area closer to the house providing useful play space for the children. The project cost was comparable to a high end loft conversion but came with some serious value-added user experience. A fine example of how our design process challenges different thinking, alternative visions and superior end products.
Our client commented on completion: “garden and clinic are looking amazing. we have had so many amazing comments about it and it is an utter joy to work in!!!!!”
