We removed the existing single storey pitched roof, rebuilt and filled in the side return with a flat roof extension. By rebuilding you get an much more integrated rear impression as we can match in all the brickwork. We've opened up and incorporated the rear reception space so as to maximise the opportunity for the room to function as a kitchen, dining and living space. The flush internal patio acts as a extension to the room in good weather when the doors are open. We've exposed the pitch roof vault so as to create interesting angles and distinction within the open plan space and the exposure brick walls adds some texturing and warmth.
