Following the demolition of an existing extension at the rear of the property, a contemporary wraparound extension was constructed. We designed a pitch-to-flat roof to minimise the wall height on the boundary and then vaulted the ceiling internally; using a crank steel frame on the back wall of the extension in order to maximise the amount of glazing that could be installed in this area. In the roof we installed large frameless skylights, which provide masses of natural light for the space. The project was finished with a traditional Shaker style kitchen and wooden flooring, providing a stylish contrast with the new extension.
