Alternative Flooring Stair Runner and Oak Herringbone in Histon
A carpet again? Or could you make a change to something else?
The Project
We were invited to a house in Histon where the owners wanted to swap a rather moth-eaten carpet for a new carpet runner, an engineered Oak Herringbone and a Moduleo Impress Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT).
Just because you had carpet once you don‘t have to have it again
Why change a floor
There are many reasons why you might want to change a floor – it might be to improve a floor’s functionality so you don’t have to spend so much time cleaning it, it might be for health reasons, old carpets can hold dust and dirt, or it might be due to your tastes evolving and it being time for a change or to modernise.
What changes did our clients make?
In the case of our clients this is a definite change of look for the house. Changing the carpets for a Herringbone wood floor in the entrance hall and living room changed the entire over all appearance of the house. The wood in the hallway is hardwearing, easy to clean, and gives a smart modern look through ground floor in spite of it being a traditional pattern.
Change of look
The carpet runner by Alternative Flooring which goes up the staircase offers a certain Je ne sais quoi to this space and being made of wool, it offers the same benefits of a carpet, such as underfoot comfort, insulation and sound proofing on the stairs which can be typically loud spaces. Have a look at the photos, we think you’ll agree how great it makes the space look.
The LVT in the Bathroom and Study is a super options for an easy to clean, low maintenance floor while still offering the appearance of a solid floor.
What our clients thought
They were so delighted with their new floors that they have now hired Art of Flooring for another project in their home! Watch for updates on this case study to see what we did next.
