Velvet Carpet and a wool mix carpet installation in Great Shelford
Velvet Carpet and a wool mix carpet installation.
Many hands make light work as we found in this install in Great Shelford.
We fitted 3 different carpets in different spaces. Each carpet had different qualities and was perfectly suited to its location.
The project:
This was a mammoth sized project with the installation of 3 different carpets across this home in Great Shelford which was also undergoing a renovation project at the time.
They needed carpets in the master bedroom, a child’s bedroom and on the stairway, hall and landing.
In fact the project was so big in parts that it required 6 pairs of hands to help bring this touch of luxury to the home.
So why 3 different carpets?
Carpets are not all made equal. They have different qualities and they suit different locations.
We spent time in the showroom with our customer to talk them through all the possible options, so that they understood the benefits, pros and cons of the various options.
An informed choice
We really wanted their choice to be well informed so they knew they were getting exactly what they needed to suit their home and lifestyle.
What went where?
Halls and stairways are high traffic areas. You need a hard wearing carpet that will withstand the daily use and heavy footfall.
Bedrooms however require a little more luxury, something plush underfoot, something to create a feeling of cosiness.
First up: A hard wearing wool mix Victoria Tudor Twist
This went on to the stairs and landing AND in a child’s bedroom in a different colour.
Wool Mix – The Best of both
The wool mix gives the best of both worlds. The wool content makes it hard wearing, meaning it will stay looking superb in your home and bounce back from feet treading it down all day.
It’s also the ultimate renewable fibre, after all it comes from sheep!
The manmade aspect of a mix carpet it makes it easier to wipe stains from, which in a child’s bedroom is critical if you don’t want to see splodges and grime left, right and centre – we've been there, we know!
The second carpet: Pure wool Jacaranda
We installed this beautiful Jacaranda Heavy Velvet 100% Wool Hand Woven Carpet in this Master Bedroom.
A little bit of luxury
It’s the perfect carpet to give you a touch of luxury underfoot and because the bedroom gets a lot less footfall it doesn’t need to be as hard wearing or as stain resistant. It just needs to give you the comfort that you deserve in a bedroom.
Was the project straightforward?
Well, yes....mostly.
Although it did require 6 men to lift the Jacaranda into place given the weight. Thanks to the builders on site for helping with this.
There was also the minor point of having to remove to bannisters on the stairs to help get it in.
But this aside and 2 days later the house was fully equipped with stunning, high quality, expertly fitted carpets throughout!
In summary
This house looks spectacular now with a variety of 3 fabulous carpets, all chosen and located to fulfil a particular role.
It definitely wasn’t a one size fits all job!
And, if you aren't sure it is always worth a discussion with an expert because they can advise you on what will suit your home and your living style ensuring you get an outstanding result.
We hope this gives you food for thought on your next flooring project!
