Trust Engineered Oak in Impington

Trust Engineered Oak Floor in Impington

We were invited to a pre 1970s home in Impington to replace an old carpet with 2 lovely Trust Oaks. This seemingly straightforward project got particularly interesting when we looked under the old carpet.

The Project:

Our clients, moved to this pre 1970s home in Impington in December 2021. They wanted to remove the old carpet across the downstairs, making way for some lovely new floors in the hall way, living dining room and the children’s play room.

The showroom experience:

As is customary with any new client, the journey starts in our showroom. We spent time with our customer talking about the flooring options. They had already decided to have tiles in the hallway which is not something we supply but we were able to help them with the living/dining room and playroom.

2 different plank styles

The chose a Trust Oak plank in colour Wimpole for the living dining room and a Trust Oak Herringbone in the same colour, Wimpole, for the play room.

The Trust Oaks:

The Trust Oak Range floors have all been named after National Trust Properties and locations in the local area. When you buy any of this flooring range we like to gift you a year’s National Trust membership as a Thank you from us.

The Installation:

Sometimes an install is straightforward, and other times you hit upon a problem.

A slight hitch

When we carried out the pre work survey we hit upon a snag in the form of Thermoplastic Tiles.

Asbestos

These tiles contain asbestos and so obviously needed removing before we could progress. In order to do this we called in a company of professional asbestos removers. It was an additional cost but in order to be able to do a proper and safe job this was something that needed to be done.

While the asbestos team were in they also found asbestos in the Artex in the ceiling so our clients opted to have this removed as well.

This made the job somewhat more of a project and for this our clients moved out for a while.

What happened in the end:

Happily, after the asbestos was removed throughout the down stairs and in the ceilings we were able to complete our installation, smoothly.

A nice return home

And the biggest bonus, our clients were not there for the install so they returned home to a beautifully installed, stunning new floor!

What our clients said:

“We wanted to swap out our carpeted floor in the lounge/dining area and kids’ playroom for hard flooring and found AoF by researching the net. And how lucky we were to find them!

Sam was our point of contact and he has been very receptive and helpful from the get go. He gave an honest and detailed introduction to their products and worked with our needs throughout the whole project. Sam has vast experience and knowledge with building works, so he was quick to point out potential issues that we could face and ways to get around them.

We had various work going on in our project and Sam was accommodating and meticulous with scheduling the flooring work to fit in with the overall schedule. Team AoF delivered and installed our flooring and skirting in good time and they looked great!

They are also very polite and efficient workers. We love our new floor, especially the Herringbone one in the playroom.

I highly recommend Sam and the AoF team as you feel that they are always working with you and on your side, which I think all companies should do. Top job from a top team. Keep up the good work!”

To sum up:

We think this sums up the project and the relationship we formed with our client. At Art of Flooring we are always keen to form strong relationships, demonstrate excellent customer care and work with you, and this glowing review shows we achieved our goal.

We are delighted they are so pleased!
