Wool Carpet in Toft and Working with Jakins Interiors
A collaboratiion!
As a local business we love to build strong relationships with other businesses. We support each other and in collaboration we can also get the best for our customers.
Business supporting business
One of our collaborations is with the lovely Sam Kruck (Sam K) of Jakin Interiors who is a soft furnishings expert, and we want to share how a collaboration between and Interior Design company and a flooring company might work for you.
The project
We recently worked with Sam K on a project in a house in Toft, Cambridge.
Sam’s client was doing a full renovation, stripping back everything and moving walls. It then needed putting together again.
Cushions, furniture and window dressings, flooring and paint
Sam was taken on to work on a lot of the design around the soft furnishings; cushions, furniture and window dressings which she is an expert in and can create for a client with her in house team.
However for this project, she was also asked to work on the paint colours and the flooring. Cue Art of Flooring and Sam W!
How did the collaboration work?
For the Toft project, Sam at Jakins Interiors created a mood board for a client and so knew the look she was helping her client to achieve.
She had a basket of carpet of wood flooring samples which Art of Flooring had given to her so she used these to choose the carpet.
“If there isn’t quite the product they are looking for she can always contact Sam W at Art of flooring and borrow more samples” she explained.
A library system
Sam K describes this as a library system, where she can get the samples on loan and return.
In this Renovation project the client needed a wool carpet for the lounge and a washable carpet for the bedroom. With Sam K’s help they chose a lovely Riviera wool carpet for the downstairs and an easy to care for synthetic twist pile carpet for the bedroom.
Sam K then referred her client with the chosen carpet to take the project to the next stage with Art of Flooring, where the team checked the suitability of the choice, discussed the technical aspects such as underlay or sub floor and then measured up for installation.
Sam K had helped them find the carpet, Sam W helped them with the steps towards installation.
What is so great about a collaboration?
Sam at Jakins explained that “He (Sam W) knows his products, I know mine. It is invaluable having someone on board who knows the technicality of what is needed where. And it is like having a library system, he can lend me the bits I need!”.
Sam W of Art of Flooring says "Working with designers, such as Sam (K), gives us a different view as to how our work and the products we supply fit into an overall project. Sam was challenged to find products that suited this family’s lifestyle and we helped her to find the right products to match her requirements."
To sum up
The long and short of this is that you can’t be an expert in everything, so by bringing our skills together we are able to support each other's businesses but also use the expertise in our own fields to get the very best for our clients!
