Our longest Off the Loom Runner to date
Off the Loom Morden - Colour Lounge Green
We fitted our longest Off the Loom runner to date on a double stairway and landing at this Cambridge period property.
The project
After our clients the Stevensons completed renovation works at their Cambridge period property it was time to install the new floor on the stairways and landing.
The Art of Flooring Showroom Experience
Having seen positive Google reviews The Stevensons came to us with a fairly firm idea of what they required for their 2 sets of stairs and midlanding.
They knew they wanted a flatweave runner so we took them through our ranges, offering advice where needed and they chose an Off the Loom Morden Flatweave Runner.
Off the Loom runners are 3 ply flatweave runners made of 100% New Zealand Wool which are very hardwearing and look outstanding up staircases and along landings.
Samples helped the client make their choice.
To help them with their choice they took home samples and Phil also took samples to their home. They chose a Lounge Green colour which Phil says “is what I describe as a heritage colour and it suits the style of the property very well indeed”.
The Fitting
The runner was the longest we have ever sold at a whopping 24 metres. A typical staircase runner would be around 6m but this was far more extensive and would be covering 2 flights of stairs and a landing in between.
Our specialist fitter of flatweaves took 2 days to complete this massive job.
2 days, 2 stairways and 5 mitres later
Day 1
Day one began with fitting the carpet on the stairs. This was straightforward.
The next job was to create a template for the landing pieces. This was a bit more of a challenge. Due to the twists and turns along the landing, which you can see in the picture to the left, the carpet required 5 mitre joins, meaning the carpet couldn’t just go straight down.
Our fitter created a template for this space this on day one, working out exactly where the joins would go. He then took the template away and overnight sewed the carpet pieces together to create the joins for the runner along the landing.
Accuracy was key, any mistakes would have meant the carpet wouldn’t have fitted precisely and neatly, so his attention to detail was critical.
Accuracy and attention to detail
Day 2
Fortunately when day 2 came and the carpet was fitted on the landing, it was perfect!
What our client said
“Friendly, efficient, prompt. Very good advice, interesting and attractive product, an excellent result”
Happy client
As ever we are delighted that the couple felt they received the great level of service we aim to provide and that they are pleased with their stunning new runner. It really does look striking in their home.
